If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together- African proverb
This weekend was a momentous one for Team Upili.
Mariam Ndegwa, Bethsalel Wauna, and our Senior Counsellor Catherine Njoroge launched Upili’s Pilot Program at S.A Joytown Secondary School in Thika, Kenya.
Upili’s implementation–creating our Theory of Change, fashioning the framework for the program, receiving the generous donations from YOU, hiring Catherine, creating connection with the Team at Joytown–at times admittedly felt slow.
This weekend reminded us of the importance of going together.
๐ Youth with Disabilities are up to 10 times more likely to battle depression.
๐ Students with Disabilities do not graduate secondary school at the same rate as non-disabled peers often due to a lack of psychosocial support.
As we work toward changing these facts through bringing Counselors with Disabilities into schools to empower Students with Disabilities we invite you to join us on this journey of therapeutic impact.
