This privacy policy governs the manner in which Nextstep Foundation; A non-profit organization that leverages the power of technology to train and upskill people from marginalized communities-with a particular focus on people living with disabilities and young women, to equip and empower them to fully participate in the new digital economy. (“Nextstep Foundation”, “Us”, “We”)  collect, uses, maintains and disclose information collected from users(“users” or “you”) of its website or other platform used at https://nextstepfdn.org (“The website”), https://www.nikkoworkx.net (“Nikkoworks Platform”) and other external sources that may be used to collect data.

Definition

  • ‘Service Provider’ refers to any entity that: (1) is providing, and is operating in its capacity as a provider of, an in-person or virtual service for the purposes of training and upskilling users ; and (2) collects, maintains or uses student personal information in digital/electronic format. The term ‘service provider’ does not include an entity that is providing, and that is operating in its capacity as a provider of, general audience software, applications, services or websites not designed and marketed for schools.
  • ‘Student personal information’ is personally identifiable information as well as other information when it is both collected and maintained on an individual level and is linked to personally identifiable information.

We believe you should always know what data we collect from you and how we use it, and that you should have meaningful control over both. We want to empower you to make the best decisions about the information that you share with us.

Information you share with us

We require certain information to provide our services to you. For example, your personal information, contact information, requested documents upload and much more. When you choose to share these information with us, we collect and use it to operate and offer you our services. Below section explains how each of the information categories is applied to our services.

Personal Data

“Personal data” identifies you as an individual or relates to information relating to an identifiable natural person, including, but not limited to:

  • Name
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • Postal address
  • Age
  • National ID Number
  • Biological identifiers
  • Education background information and relevant documentations.
  • Disability status
  • Racial and ethnic origin information,
  • Through information you voluntarily provide through use of Our Services, and may include sensitive information and other details that may be requested.

 

Basic Account information

If you choose to create an account with Nextstep Foundation, you must provide us with some personal data so that we can provide our service to you. This information include; First Name, Last Name, Nickname, email, age, disability status, education level, country of origin, county(if you are based in Kenya), Password. This information will be used to authenticate your access to the service (“Nikkoworkx learning platform”). 

Contact information

We use your contact information such as your email address and phone number, to authenticate you to your account. This also helps us secure your account, and to help prevent spam, fraud and abuse. In addition, we use your contact details to reach out to you for follow-up.

Our Student Privacy Pledge

We pledge to carry out responsible stewardship and appropriate use of student personal information according to the commitments below and in adherence to all laws applicable to us as training institution  providers.

We commit to:

  1. Not collect, maintain, use or share student personal information beyond that needed for authorized educational/school purposes, or as authorized by the parent/student.
  2. Not to sell any of the information collected.
  3. Not use or disclose information collected through our platforms mentioned herein (whether personal information or otherwise) for behavioral targeting of advertisements to our users.
  4. Not build a personal profile of our user (“student”) other than for supporting authorized educational/school purposes or as authorized by the parent/student.
  5. Maintain a comprehensive security program that is reasonably designed to protect the security, privacy, confidentiality, and integrity of users personal information against risks – such as unauthorized access or use, or unintended or inappropriate disclosure – through the use of administrative, technological, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.
  6. Support access to and correction of student personally identifiable information by the student or their authorized parent, either by assisting the educational institution in meeting its requirements or directly when the information is collected directly from the student with student/parent consent.
  7. Require that our partners (“sponsors”, “recruitment partners” ) or any other organization we involve with in relation to the collected information and or  with whom student personal information is shared in order to deliver the educational service, if any, are obligated to implement these same commitments for the given user personal information.

Accessing and modifying your profile information

If you have an existing account through our NikkoWorkx platform, we provide you with an access setting section section to allow you modify, update or delete your account information. You can download certain information associated to your account.

Deletion

As stated under this policy document, you have the right to control your information and general account. Should you wish to delete and or deactivate your account, you have permissions to do so. When deactivated, your Nikkoworkx account, including your personal information, contact details, medical records, will no longer be viewable. 

Change to Privacy and Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most current version of the policy will govern our processing of your personal data and will always be at (website/privacy-policy) . If we make a change to this policy that, in our sole discretion, is material, we will notify you by sending an email to the email address associated with your account. By continuing to access or use the Services after those changes become effective, to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.
